According to the official Reiki website:
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
What you can expect during your session
Dress comfortably! The goal is to heal and relax, and there is no one to impress. Coming from work or a previous appointment and don't have time to slip into sweatpants? That's fine too! There is no stretching, exercise, or strenuous movement involved.
The session begins with a consultation and an introduction. I want to know a little about you and answer any questions you have about Reiki, the session, or myself.
Reiki itself is given as you lay on a standard massage table. I utilize crystal gridding to help channel and amplify energy. After the crystals are set I send you on a guided meditation to explore while the Reiki is administered.
If at any point in time you experience an outpouring of emotions, please let them out. It is all part of the healing process. You may or may not feel the need to talk through them immediately. Some may experience the need to sob or cry. Again, this is completely normal. You can move or re-position, ask for a blanket, or request anything to help you be more comfortable at any time.
After Reiki we have a post session debrief. I will inform you of all of my findings and answer all questions. For extreme cases a follow up plan will be recommended, otherwise return is on an as needed basis.
